Stewardship is ALIVE at Sacred Heart
We Are The Disciples of Christ

Prayer is essential to the life of a Christian Steward. Our prayer helps us to be better aware of God’s goodness in our lives.
Prayer is also essential to one’s conversion and continues to challenge us to be better Christians.
Lent is the liturgical season that helps us prepare for the Passion of Christ.
Many times people like to do something special, especially in the area of prayer, to help them set apart this season from the ordinary. Below is a list of possible ideas that could be incorporated into daily household routines.
During this Lenten season let us allow ourselves the opportunity to grow closer to our baptismal call.

* Write a Family Prayer while sharing a meal. Use this prayer during Lent.

* Teach your family how to pray the Rosary. Come together once a week to pray Rosary.

* Develop a routine for children to do chores around the house and contribute their earnings toward the Habitat for Humanity Roof project.

* Embrace a fasting routine in your life during Lent to bring you closer to God.

During this Lenten season let us give ourselves the opportunity
to grow closer to our baptismal call.

Stewardship Prayer
Generous and loving God, You call us to be disciples of your Son Jesus
and good stewards of all your many gifts.
Open our minds and hearts to a greater awareness and deeper appreciation of your countless blessings.
Transform us through the power of your Spirit
to nurture a Stewardship way of life marked by faith-filled prayer,
service to our neighbor and generous sharing.
Teach us to be faithful servants of your gifts.
With Mary’s help, may we return ten-fold the gifts entrusted to us.
Bless our Sacred Heart parish with a deepening devotion to prayer,
a growing commitment for service,
and increasing levels of generosity
as we work to advance the mission of our parish.
We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen

We are thankful for all the good stewardship efforts we see at Sacred Heart. We have an active Stewardship Committee that welcomes new members. Please contact Cathy Mills 234-6593 ext 208 if interested in hearing more about this vibrant area of parish life.

SACRED HEART STEWARD OF THE MONTH

JOE & DOROTHY DUNNWALD

Well done, good and faithful servants.”
(Mt. 25:21)

This Duo Makes Things Come Together

A grandson of founders of Sacred Heart Catholic Church
and his bride of nearly 59 years
are being lauded as Stewards of the Month of March.
It is fitting to honor Francis "Joe"and Dorothy Dunnwald
for their myriad of contributions to Sacred Heart Parish during this Centennial year.

Joe's grandparents, Jacob and Cora Dunnwald,
were present on that Christmas when the church doors initially opened.
One hundred years later, this generation of their descendants is active on many levels at Sacred Heart.
Both Joe and Dorothy are Sacristans and Eucharistic Ministers.
They also take the Eucharist to the residents of Ravenwood Care Center.

For more than 20 years, Dorothy has been involved in the funeral dinner ministry.
She often leads the Rosary at the funeral home for deceased parishioners
and in the past was active with the Renovation committee, Rosary Society and Parish Council.

Joe contributed his time and talent with the remodeling of the Rectory and O'Hagan Hall.
By baptism, both joined the Sacred Heart family and rejoined as a couple in 1963.
Their children, Deb, Don, Lynette, Mark, Mary, Paul and John, were educated at
Sacred Heart and Columbus High Schools
and have inherited their parents' commitment to Stewardship.
Deb was honored during this year's Catholic Schools' Week as a Distinguished Catholic School alum,
giving testament to the fact that the Dunnwald spirit of giving lives on.
